What Is the Facade Improvement Program?
The Facade Improvement Program is a city sponsored initiative designed to support exterior upgrades to commercial storefront properties within the Historic Main Street and Virginia Avenue Business Districts. This means you can receive financial assistance to upgrade your storefront—from fresh paint and new signage to lighting, awnings, and more!

Eligible improvements include:
Exterior painting and cleaning
Restoration of architectural details
New or refurbished signage
Lighting and landscaping
Windows, doors, and awnings
Grants are awarded on a case by case review basis, meaning you could receive up to $10,000 towards your project costs —making your investment go even further.
Who Can Apply?
If your business or property is located within the designated Main Street or Virginia Avenue Business Districts, you’re eligible to apply! Property owners and tenants (with owner approval) are encouraged to participate.

Contact our office for the program application and brochure, then;
Plan Your Project – Think big! Improvements must be visible from the street and align with the city’s design guidelines.
Submit for Approval – Applications are reviewed for eligibility and impact.
Get to Work – Once approved, complete your project and maintain quotes, design plans and receipts for community impact analysis and completion review.
